Price hike has now become one of the greatest problems of our country. The price of all the daily necessaries has gone beyond the reach of the poor and the middle class people. Most of the people of our country cannot maintain their families with their poor income. It has created many other problems in the country. As the days go, the price is going up. Middle class people are seen to take meals two times instead of three times. Students are suffering a lot. The price of rice, vegetables, soyabean, sugar, fish, meat, etc. are being sold at a very high price. The price is rising on a regular basis. The indifference of the government, corruption of businessmen and political leaders, unstable situation of politics, unconsciousness of people are all responsible for this problem. Almost all the people are suffering. Government should immediately take necessary steps to solve this problem. The guilty should be fined and punished strictly.

The rise in the price of essential commodities day to day is called price hike. Price hike means the rise of the price of daily necessaries. Today price hike is a common phenomenon in our economy. The price of essential commodities is increasing by leaps and bounds. There are many causes behind this price-hike. Over population is the main cause of it as our country cannot produce enough commodities for its increasing population. Our population is increasing geometrically, while the supply of food increases arithmetically. As a result, the supply of goods is limited in comparison to our demands . Besides, inflation, dishonest business, hoarding, black-marketing, natural calamity, political unrest, greed for money, lack of consciousness, massive corruption, etc. are greatly responsible for this problem. Hoarding is one of the important factors for soaring price level. People hoard the essential commodities with an ill motive and as a result there is break down in the supply. Smuggling and black marketing are also important factors that cause price hike. Essential commodities are always being smuggled across the border. Shortage of supply due to low production also accelerates the price hike of essential goods. The problem is becoming acute day by day. It has much negative impact on our life and activities. People of fixed income are greatly suffering from it as they cannot buy their necessary things with their limited income. However, efforts should be made and necessary actions and proper measures should be taken to tackle the situation. Hoarding should be controlled. Smuggling and black-marketing are to be eradicated. An adequate supply of essential commodities is to be ensured. No individual, community, organisation not even the government is capable of solving the problem single-handed. So, we all should come forward to fight united against the problem. And public awareness can be raised through the newspaper, radio, satellite television, and the Internet in this regard.
